IMDB rating: 6.60 Plot: Capitalizing on his fame as the star of “Hogan’s Heroes,” Bob Crane (Greg Kinnear) dove into the freewheeling spirit of the 60s and 70s with relish, having affairs with numerous women. Eventually, Crane teamed up with video technician John Carpenter to document his exploits, an association that may very well have led to his murder in a Scottsdale, Arizona motel room in 1978, which remains officially unsolved to this day. |

Is there any compatible prime lenses for D5000, not necessarily Nikon?
Hi,
I’m wondering what my options are for a compatible lens for my D5000
I was hoping for a 50mm but the only one with a motor built in by nikon is the 1.4 and that’s a bit too expensive at the moment!
Do tamron or sigma etc. do an equivalent with auto focus capabilities.
thanks
Jamie
Yes they do. Check the link below for a selection of lenses available at B&H photo
KNDChicago | Mar 14, 2010
Yes. Any Sigma lens marked ‘HSM’ will autofocus with your D5000 as they have a focus motor built into the lens.
deep blue2 | Mar 14, 2010
You need a lens with an AF-S motor inside it (because your camera lacks a built in motor). Like you said, the Nikkor 50/1.4 is pricey and unfortunately the only other company that makes a 50mm with a motor is Sigma, and their’s isn’t that much cheaper. 50mm is actually an awkward focal length on DX cameras though…you should look at the new Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 AF-S ($200), it’s really the only cheap prime lens with an AF-S motor. Sigma also makes a 30mm f/1.4 HSM (the same as AF-S) which you can get for probably $400 or so. As for other focal lengths, Nikon’s 60mm f/2.8 AF-S macro lens is somewhere around $500 I believe…and they get more expensive from there. In fact it would probably be cheaper for you to upgrade to a D90 and be able to use AF-D lenses. If you bought a used D200, high ISO wouldn’t be great but you would also be able to meter with any old AI or AI-S lens from 1977 onwards, and those are much much cheaper but of course don’t have autofocus.
dipwad | Mar 14, 2010
Unfortunately there is no money savings getting a non-Nikon 50mm that can autofocus with the D5000. The 50mm Sigma HSM model costs more than the 50 mm Nikon AF-S.
thankyoumaskedman | Mar 14, 2010
most definitely the new Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 AF-S is the way to go. I have it, it is sweet and you are not going to find a prime lens for that camera that is that sharp with that kind of quality for the money
Hand down the best prime for that camera, and for around or under 200.00 it can’t be beat
nyker | Mar 14, 2010
you might consider Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

My ex is mad that i had her son around my new girlfriend.. Is this right?
My and my ex where together for like 3 years when we got together she had a 3 year old son and is 8 now. By the time of the break up he was calling me his step dad, and the kid really loves me. Well i cheated on my ex and we broke up, crushed his heart that i wasnt there all the time, but i still saw him not as much as i should but i was there. Well now that i have more free time i can see him more. I pick him up once a week from school and take him back to my house and we do his home work, cook dinner, watch tv, play games and talk. Normally its jus me and him, my new girlfriend usaully leaves wheile he is there and has never meet him out of respect, she never wanted him to feel weird. Well i talk to him about her, and she even bought him his own spider man plate for when he comes over, well he asked to meet her. So yesterday she stayed home with me and was there with him. He had a great time, she even went and bought monolpy for us all to play since i dont have any board games for him… They talked and he really liked her, when me and him were jus in the store he pointed to a chcocalte heart and said "why dont you buy this for your girlfriend i think she should will like it"…. So i’m driving him home like cool they both had a great time he was so happy he was like next week i’m beating both of you in monolpoy.. Well when i tell his mom that she was there she got MAD. She said that i disrespected her, she said i should of told her first and let her decide.. Like decide what?? You know i’m a good father figure( better that his real dad but thats another story) but she is second guessing my descion. I know the only reason she does not want her around is cause i cheated with her. They also got into a fight 3 years ago, my ex showed up at me and my girlfriends place and started a fight with her… I jus want peace is she wrong for not waitning her around isn’t this childish??? He loves me i love him, he has a good positive time with me and thats whats important right?? Shouldnt we do whats best for the kid not what makes her boar float??? Side note i don’t smoke in the house when he is there, i barley curse in front of him i dont drink beers in front of him, like some people(her) but yet she says she has to decide how she is gonna proceed with this, lol…. HELP
Its normal for her to be upset and just remember she is a girl and emotions play a part in all of that and she doesnt want to be replaced should respect her wishes for now
shopgirl831 | Feb 02, 2010
I agree that you probably should have ran it past her first. But, not to ask… I would have TOLD her that your girlfriend is going to be there. It’s not her right to decide what goes on in YOUR house. As long as the girlfriend isn’t stepping over boundaries (telling the son to call her mom, being mean to him, etc) then it shouldn’t be a problem. On the other hand, this is the women she lost you to. That makes a bit of an exception… if it were some other girl, then things might be different. Perhaps she is worried that your girlfriend may talk badly about her to or around your son. That would tick me off. I would suggest having a discussion with your ex and try to work it out. If she really feels uncomfortable with her there around her son, then she might not want him to go there anymore and she very well could not allow him to go over to your house anymore. If you were the biological father, it would be different (that’s just the way the laws are — not trying to be a b**** here). Just try talking with her… maybe a phone conversation would be best when little man is in bed asleep. Good luck.
Brooke | Feb 02, 2010
Yikes! This a sticky, icky situation. First, on behalf of society, thank you for stepping up and being a father figure to this little boy! His life will turn out all the better because you didn’t leave him when you left his mother.
Now on to the meat. Place yourself in your ex’s shoes. You are doing your best to be a good boyfriend and you find out she’s scewing someone else. Not only that but the dude is so tough, he shows up at your doorstep to fight you. And guess what, when it’s all said and done she wants to be with him and not you! How low would that make you feel?
Yes, it was a long time ago for you but she relives that pain every time she sees you. To throw salt in the wound you bring around your girlfriend who the son has no choice but to like (after all he’s a got Spiderman plate and games to play now, she’s awesome!) and he has to go home to mom who makes him take baths and do chores. It’s like she been ditched twice! She knows that your good for him, that’s why she let’s him see you but it also hurts that you’ve brought this girl that she knows for a fact can be mean and nasty around her child.
Like it or not, decision regarding children are made between adults. Although he wanted to meet her, it wasn’t your place to bring your girlfriend into the mix without your ex’s permission. Now, although it seems silly, you have to apologize. Discuss with you ex, that you’d like it if your girlfriend could be around more often, but you don’t want to step on her toes. You have to assure her that her child will always been safe around you even when your girlfriend is around.
I wish the best of luck with this situation. Just remember to take it all in stride.
MizzJackson | Feb 02, 2010
Ill give my answer, since I AM THE PERSON YOU ARE REFERING TOO.. First of all, My son was just turning 2 when we got together, we were together for over 4 years. Not sure how many of those years you were actually faithful. We have tried time and time again to work things out and you ALWAYS run back to the girl you cheated on me for. FINE!!!!!!!! You proposed to me, Im over you. This has NOTHING To do with you other than your lack of respect for me THE MOTHER of the child. So Since you want to come on here and try and act all wholesome.. Lets put the truth out there. Your girlfriend has a child also, that she DOES NOT have custody of. And lets also put out there that you and your girlfriend go through so many ups and downs which MANY OF THEM I have had to rescue you from. YOU two fight like your two drunk men in a bar. You thought you could get away with being sneaky because you knew damn well I wouldnt approve. Dont even go trying to make me look like a bad mom or person because I wanted to fight the girl you were bringing in my house, while driving my car while I was at work to feed you and my son and myself and pay bills and keep a roof over everyones head. She is a low class tramp. I dont want my son around her POINT B LANK.. Now you have pissed me off that u didnt disclose ALL OF THE TRUTH.. Hows that for TRUTH

Now's your chance to post your historical evidence Jesus really existed?
People keep getting upset when others point out there is no direct historical evidence that Jesus was a real person but when pushed they either cite the New Testament or, worse, "prophecies" in older writings which barely match Jesus’s life and certainly don’t name him.
So now’s your big chance. Post your verified historical evidence that Jesus was a real person.

You and anyone else who asks this question is a dumbazz…
That’s like asking for the complete Roman census from 40 a.d.
Records pertaining to any singular individual not a part of the ruling elite from 2,000 years ago is going to be impossible to obtain…
That’s like asking you to prove the existence of some Roman peasant named Justinius Appius…
Chances are such an individual existed, but you’ll NEVER be able to prove it…

I’m okay with the Book. No one is writing a book about me (that I know of, well, my dad, but you probably wouldn’t buy it) and I exist.
Do you apply the same requirements to all books of recorded history?
ruth | Feb 07, 2010
Roman annalist and historian Tacitus gives the best account of Jesus and even his mention is passing. You even put a link on your question so I shall not do the same. You also get similar scant mentions from Seutonius.
I don’t take much of anything in the bible to be of evidential use.
As an atheist I don’t massively doubt that a man called Jesus existed as there’s as much historical evidence for him as there is for a number of lesser known people of the ancient world. I just highly doubt he had superpowers. These movements need to be sparked off by someone somewhere.
Ruth>
Yes! A single source on its own must be considered highly questionable. Especially when it comes from a religious text which is given to using dogma and blatant fairytales in it’s "history". Tacitus at least prided himself on his academic thoroughness in his historical research and much of what he writes (such as the bodicea revolt for instance) have genuine archaeological evidence to back them up. He was however biased towards making Rome look good and as a biographer tended to spin doctor his subjects for a particular reader reaction.
Where you can’t find other historical written sources or archaeological evidence, then events can only be taken with a large pinch of salt.
Rivky> Don’t know where you got that from but Tacitus’ Annuls can’t have been tampered with by monks as it came preserved to us via the scholars of Islam. They had no reason to mention Jesus, and anyway, what he says is definitely not complimentary. A monk would surely insert a glowing report of Jesus?
I don’t trust the Josephus account as far as I can throw it.

Watch all the people who will post Josephus and Tacticus, when both mentions of Jesus in their writings were long ago shown to be fraudulent later insertions by monks in the case of Josephus’s mentions of him, or outright frauds to begin with in the case of Tacticus’s mentions.
EDIT: I DIDNT SAY TACTICUS’S MENTION WAS BY MONKS I SAID JOSEPHUS MENTIONS WERE BY MONKS. READ WHAT I WROTE.
I SAID TACTICUS MENTIONS WERE LONG AGO PROVEN TO BE OUTRIGHT FRAUDS.

We have documentation of dozens of men to proclaim to be "The Messiah of the Jews" that could heal the blind, walk through walls, and walk on water… We HAVE THEIR NAMES! Yet not a WORD from contemporaries in the ‘Time of Christ’.
Yet we have no verifiable evidence that "Jesus" ever existed…
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
It is said that hundreds of babies were slaughtered in an attempt to "Kill Jesus"… Yet we have no historical record of those hundreds of babies that were killed…
When "Jesus" was born, it is said that Mary and Joseph were returning to their home town for the census… "Common people were not recorded"? Really? Then why were those two on the road when Mary was about to give birth? If it isn’t important for the Common People to be documented, don’t you think that a pregnant woman would elect to stay at home rather than travel and give birth on the road?
Do you people understand the infant and mother mortality rate 2000+ years ago? MOST CHILDREN DIDN’T MAKE IT TO THEIR 3rd BIRTHDAY! It was EXTRAORDINARILY common for women to die in child birth! For the sake of argument, lets say Mary was to give birth to "The Son of God"… Where did it say she would survive labor? If this happened, she had no idea if she would live or die, all she knew was that her SON was to be special.
NOTHING Xtians say makes a damn bit of sense…
NOTHING they claim to be "Evidence" is actually backed up by the FACTS…

???????? Did a historical Jesus exist?
http://www.nobeliefs.com/exist.htm
Amazingly, the question of an actual historical Jesus rarely confronts the religious believer. The power of faith has so forcefully driven the minds of most believers, and even apologetic scholars, that the question of reliable evidence gets obscured by tradition, religious subterfuge, and outrageous claims. The following gives a brief outlook about the claims of a historical Jesus and why the evidence the Christians present us cannot serve as justification for reliable evidence for a historical Jesus.
ALL CLAIMS OF JESUS DERIVE FROM HEARSAY ACCOUNTS
No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus came well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources about Jesus derive from hearsay accounts.
Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness’ own knowledge.
Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony, and nor does honest modern scholarship. Hearsay provides no proof or good evidence, and therefore, we should dismiss it.
If you do not understand this, imagine yourself confronted with a charge for a crime which you know you did not commit. You feel confident that no one can prove guilt because you know that there exists no evidence whatsoever for the charge against you. Now imagine that you stand present in a court of law that allows hearsay as evidence. When the prosecution presents its case, everyone who takes the stand against you claims that you committed the crime, not as a witness themselves, but solely because other people said so. None of these other people, mind you, ever show up in court, nor can anyone find them.
Hearsay does not work as evidence because we have no way of knowing whether the person lies, or simply bases his or her information on wrongful belief or bias. We know from history about witchcraft trials and kangaroo courts that hearsay provides neither reliable nor fair statements of evidence. We know that mythology can arise out of no good information whatsoever. We live in a world where many people believe in demons, UFOs, ghosts, or monsters, and an innumerable number of fantasies believed as fact taken from nothing but belief and hearsay. It derives from these reasons why hearsay cannot serves as good evidence, and the same reasoning must go against the claims of a historical Jesus or any other historical person.
Authors of ancient history today, of course, can only write from indirect observation in a time far removed from their aim. But a valid historian’s own writing gets cited with sources that trace to the subject themselves, or to eyewitnesses and artifacts. For example a historian today who writes about the life of George Washington, of course, can not serve as an eyewitness, but he can provide citations to documents which give personal or eyewitness accounts. None of the historians about Jesus give reliable sources to eyewitnesses, therefore all we have remains as hearsay.

What do you care? Whatever evidence is revealed to you, you’re just going to brush it off anyway. ;(

The bible has no real historical evidence, even today’s books fiction can list real places and people, but it doesn’t make a non-fiction which deals with factual evidence.

The changed hearts and lives of countless people over thousands of years, who have found the living God through Jesus Christ. In a word… Christianity.
The books and letters found in Bible, but of course you will not accept that either.
Bill Mac | Feb 07, 2010
@First answer, wow what a Christian thing to say. We have plenty of records and documents of Pontius Pilate, who was the man that supposedly executed Jesus, but his records never show any such person like described in the bible.
We have plenty of evidence of Alexander the Great, Pharaohs, Ceasars, Stone Henge, all before Jesus.
(Where’s my damn cricket spray?)
Joshua | Feb 07, 2010
There is a difference between "direct historical evidence" and historical evidence by reference. There is very little direct historical evidence for any person who lived 2,000 years ago. It is not surprising, then, that there is no direct historical evidence for members of the Roman Senate… in fact, we don’t even know the names of most of those who served, so there isn’t even historical evidence by reference for all the individuals. That poses a problem because we know, by direct historical evidence, that the Roman Senate existed.
The same is true of Jesus Christ. There is no _direct_ historical evidence, except that offered by religious writings and for most of us, that constitutes the direct historical evidence you are looking for. Keep in mind that all histories are written after the fact, and that includes those about Rome and Rome’s leaders (which includes those in the Senate).
The historical evidence by reference is the existence of Christianity, which had become a noted problem for Rome by the end of the first century. Just like we know there are unnamed Roman Senators because the Roman Senate is a known fact. Christianity was a known fact, as well.
Add: The Bible is not a singular work, but a collection of works, including five histories written by different authors, as well as contemporary letters to various religious bodies (churches) that speak of Jesus Christ. These constitute five independent histories and a number of letters that have been gathered together in a single collection. To consider them as a single work by a single person . . . <shrug>
Old Timer Too | Feb 07, 2010
Tacitus was born AD56 and so couldn’t have had any direct experience of Jesus. Anything he said was second-hand at best.
Josephus was born in AD37 and therefore also couldn’t have had direct experience of Jesus.
So no historical evidence then, despite the fact that many other records are available documenting numerous other prophets and executed leaders of Jewish and other cults.
The lives and hearts of billions of people have also been changed by the writings of Hindus, Muslims and hundreds of other faiths.
4.7 billlion non-Christians can’t be wrong?

What I think is funny is that when people ask for historical evidence of Jesus’ existence, they then start disregarding the evidence that does exist. Usually the arguments involve something like, the evidence is biased (it comes from Christians), it was written too late (apparently anything after twenty years is considered too late), it was a forgery (even though many scholars disagree), et cetera.
Why don’t we use those same standards for other historical people/events? Let’s see how that would work:
I don’t believe Alexander the Great existed, because the few contemporary sources there are for his existence were Greek, so of course they would say he existed. They could have been lying.
And actually, I don’t even think those sources themselves existed, because we no longer have even fragments of their writings, only quotes from hundreds of years later. I think that those were forgeries. People who believed Alexander the Great existed obviously forged them to support the idea. Why? So the Greeks would appear more powerful.
Even the Hellenization of various cultures isn’t proof of Alexander the Great’s existence.
And obviously any historian who accepts that Alexander existed was brainwashed.
But, you might argue, we have coins with Alexander’s image. Right, and there are also coins with gods such as Horus, Dionysus, Osiris, and Zeus.
But, there are people who said they knew where Alexander’s tomb was. Right, they did, and the Egyptians also knew where the fourteen pieces of Osiris’ body was buried.
And you know about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, right? Of course you do. Did you know that the earliest reference to it is from 20 years later? Why didn’t anyone write about it before then?
And what about the battle of Troy? It was only mentioned by Homer in the Iliad and the Odyssey. Why didn’t anyone else write about it? Obviously it never happened, or so someone would have argued before we found archaeological evidence for it.
But but, you might argue, the Romans and the Jews were meticulous record-keepers, and there’s no reference to Jesus in any of their records. Right, ignoring the fact that it was 2000 years ago, and that both Jerusalem and Rome all but burned to the ground in the 1st century AD, and that we only have the smallest fraction of these records. In other words, we don’t even *have* all of the Roman or Jewish records from the 1st century, so how can we say that Jesus wasn’t in them?
Further, while these records haven’t survived, at least one person does mention a primary source that if found, would absolutely validate Jesus’ existence beyond a shadow of a doubt. Justin Martyr, writing in the 2nd century, mentions that if the Romans he was writing to didn’t believe him, they could consult the records written by Pontius Pilate. We don’t have these records anymore, but if they did exist, they’re absolutely proof. There are pious forgeries of these records, but when they were written, they were already known as being forgeries. The real records have been lost.
Anyway. Most historians accept that there has to have been someone behind the stories. Believing Jesus as the Son of God is a matter of faith, but most historians accept that there was a 1st century rabbi known as Yeshua, who was put to death by crucifixion during the reign of Tiberius Caesar.
One of my contacts has said that the Jesus-myth hypothesis is the non-Christian equivalent of young Earth creationism. Like the movement behind young Earth creationism, Jesus-myth hypothesizers go against established knowledge, though in the case of Jesus-mythers, it’s established history instead of science. And many, many Jesus-myth hypothesizers rely on sources whose qualifications are, at best, dubious, and who often rely on outdated sources and theories for their own ideas.
Edit: Oh, and funny someone should mention the existence of Pontius Pilate, who was only referred to by one contemporary source (Philo of Alexandria). The other two, Josephus and Tacitus, are obviously too late to count. So the mention by Philo must be a forgery. Right?
The_Cricket: Thinking Pink! | Feb 07, 2010
I noticed that there are no historical evidence to the existence of Peter Pan either dear. That’s so unfair….
Gastounet | Feb 07, 2010
Nothing they wrote was verifiable but, unfortunately, they don’t keep quiet and let the crickets chirp…speaking of…
Cricket ‘,What I think is funny is that when people ask for historical evidence of Jesus’ existence, they then start disregarding the evidence that does exist.’~ scholars studied it and found it unreliable. They did not ‘dismiss it’.
‘Usually the arguments involve something like, the evidence is biased (it comes from Christians), it was written too late (apparently anything after twenty years is considered too late), ~I’ve heard a few decades different but at any rate, it still would have been a few decades AFTER they were in their thirties and since the average life expectancy was 35-40, it leaves a little doubt.
‘it was a forgery (even though many scholars disagree),’~ Are you referring to the Josephus Flavius records? I’m not a scholar but common sense tells me that if a person claimed to be a jew until the day he died, he wouldn’t write just a few sentences about ‘the messiah’ of the jews if that’s what he really thought or believed.
The other references?…the word ‘Christ’ wouldn’t count unless it’s also evidence that Mithra was real.
I wonder how long it will take for these Xians to give it up.
As far as ‘most historians think he did exist’, not too long ago, most historians truly believed the story about G. Washington cutting down a cherry tree. Guess what. Wasn’t true.

Normal to be attracted to a teacher?
Recently, my friend has been talking about how hot he thinks his teacher his. He keeps saying he fantasizes about her and he worships her. He said he likes walking past her room having excuses just to walk by her and at the end of the day waiting to see her leave, he said he wants to buy the yearbook and school newsaper just to oogle and at any pictures of her in them, saying "pictures of my hot teacher are like what pornography is to other people. Worst of all, he said he wishes she was a pedophile and if she wanted to rape him he’d be all for it, and he also said he hopes her boyfriend dies painfully.and he said, "whats the best way to kill my teacher’s boyfriend"? This sounds kind of funny but also weird to me. I guess you could find a teacher hot, and I think when he talks about killing people he probably is joking, but still. Is this normal, or has he gone too far?
